Affiliate Marketing Model

Affiliate marketing programs have never been popular before such as today. There are many reasons for that. The most probable one could be the benefits of affiliate marketing have become more clear now for many people than they were before. Now, affiliate marketing can work for merchants and affiliates. Merchant sees affiliate marketing nowadays as the chance to advertise and sell their products at a lower cost. On the other hand, the affiliate sees that affiliate marketing as an easy way of earning and making money online by creating websites or a blog.

Just as the recognition of affiliate marketing has shifted to greater heights, so has the people's outlook about it changed? Affiliate marketing is no longer considered today as an alternative method for the merchant to advertise his products, or as a source of additional income for the affiliates. Affiliate marketing for merchants and affiliates is now considered the main source of profits and revenues. So the question now is, what is the best type of affiliate marketing that will work for you? Are all affiliate marketing programs the same with the same benefits?

There are different types of affiliate marketing. We can say that the most basic affiliate marketing programs can be in two categories, the first one is Pay-Per-Click (PPC), and the second one is Pay-Per-Performance (PPP).

1. Pay Per Click (PPC)

Pay-Per-Click (PPC) affiliate marketing is one of the most popular types of affiliate marketing and the easiest way for any affiliate to earn money/profit with just his website. In the Pay-Per-Click (PPC) type, the merchant can pay for his affiliate when a visitor is referred to the website of the merchant, that is when a visitor clicks on the ads of the merchant. The affiliate gets paid even if the visitor he referred does not purchase anything from the merchant's website. But, the fees for PPC affiliate programs are very small for every click.

2. Pay Per Performance (PPP)

Pay-Per-Performance (PPP) affiliate marketing is one of the most popular among merchants and is also the most profitable type for affiliates. In this type of affiliate program, the merchant only pays the affiliate when his referral is translated into action. This action can be when the visitor he has referred actually buys anything from the merchant's website. Concerning the commissions/profit in PPP affiliate marketing usually, it can be in the range of 15 to 20 percent of the actual product sales.

3. Pay Per Sale (PPS)

There is another type of affiliate marketing is called Pay-Per-Sale (PPS). The merchants can pay the affiliate a certain fee when the visitor has referred to the website of the merchant and buys anything from the website of the merchant. The affiliates are often paid on a commission basis, although other merchants would prefer and choose to pay a fixed fee. And it is generally higher than the fee paid to the affiliates in a pay-per-click (PPC) affiliate program.

4. Pay Per Lead (PPL)

Another type of program is Pay-Per-Lead (PPL). In this type of affiliate marketing, the affiliates get paid for each converted lead when the visitor he referred to the website of the merchant register in the database of the website, or fill up an application form or any other form related to the business of the company. It means that the visitors must fill up an application form or sign up to become a lead.

Pay-Per-Sale (PPS) and Pay-Per-Lead (PPL) can be categorized under the type of Pay-Per-Performance (PPP) affiliate marketing.
